Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl winner Alshon Jeffery says he ‘categorically denies the allegations’ stemming from his arrest for insurance fraud.

It emerged on Friday morning that the 36-year-old was also arrested for conceal/fail to disclose insurance benefit or payment this week. He was booked in jail at around 8am on Wednesday but has now been released.

The arrest is said to be surrounding a fender bender that occurred earlier this year.

Jeffery’s representative, Denise White, told TMZ later on Friday: ‘The underlying incident was a minor freeway fender bender, and he provided his information at the scene.

‘These are unfounded allegations only, and Alshon has not been convicted of any offense.

‘He will address this matter through the legal process, and he remains confident that the facts will demonstrate this was a misunderstanding and nothing more.’

In California, the insurance fraud charge is a felony and Jeffery could be facing up to five years in prison and/or a fine that’s double the amount of the fraud that was committed.

Jeffery was taken in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears, where he spent five seasons before leaving for the Eagles. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2013.

In Super Bowl LII, Jeffery scored a 34-yard touchdown and made three catches for 73 yards as the Eagles defeated Tom Brady and Bill Belichick’s Patriots 41-33.

He was eventually released by the Eagles on March 17, 2021 after playing just seven games in his final season in Philadelphia.

Jeffery missed four games in the 2016 season after he was suspended for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Before entering the NFL, Jeffery played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks. He earned first-team All-American honors in 2010 and then had his jersey number retired in 2023 following his retirement from the NFL.

Daily Mail has contacted Jeffery for comment.
