The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will face off in a rematch of Super Bowl LIX in just the second week of the 2025 NFL season, it has been revealed.

The Sunday afternoon showdown will take place on September 14 at Arrowhead in Kansas City, and was the standout matchup announced on Wednesday night.

Full schedules have now been released for all 32 NFL teams, with the Chiefs featuring in at least eight primetime games throughout the campaign. The Super Bowl champion Eagles, meanwhile, have seven.

It is already looking like a particularly hard season for the New York Giants, as many commented on their schedule being the toughest of all the teams.

It is an especially brutal start for Russell Wilson and Co, with back-to-back trips to Washington and Dallas, before the visit of the Kansas City Chiefs to MetLife.

They they face the Chargers in New Jersey, before a trip to New Orleans, and then the Super Bowl champion Eagles are in town on October 9 in Week 6.

Elsewhere, the Buffalo Bills will travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens in a mouthwatering Week 1 Sunday Night Football showdown that pitches two of the best quarterbacks in the league against each other in Josh Allen against Lamar Jackson.

There could also be an immediate return to New York for Aaron Rodgers if he signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers, with a Week 1 trip to the Jets first up.

There is also an exciting early prospect for new Las Vegas Raiders coach Pete Carroll, who will head back to his old stomping ground in New England to face the Patriots in the season opener.

Prior to Wednesday night, a host of exciting games had already been announced by the league, including the Chiefs’ season opener in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers, and the first game of the year: Cowboys @ Eagles on Thursday night.

The first Monday Night Football of the season sees the Minnesota Vikings visiting the Chicago Bears on September 8. YouTube TV is the presenting sponsor of ‘Kickoff Weekend’, featuring the entire Thursday to Monday slate.
