Eagle-eyed New York Jets fans spotted an unlucky worker crawling across a USA flag covering the MetLife field in bizarre scenes before the first NFL game of the season.
The 100-yard flag was unraveled across the field for the national anthem before the Jets faced the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first game of the 2025 campaign.
But in bizarre mix-up, one worker seemed to lose their bearings and somehow found themselves on top of the flag once it had been completely rolled out.
It meant that the man in question had no option but to crawl to the nearest edge and climb off it in front of thousands of eyes watching him.
‘Yikes someone got caught on the flag at MetLife,’ wrote one concerned Jets fan who spotted the incident.
Another, posting the footage from a different angle, wrote: ‘Poor guy at Jets Steelers got caught up in the American Flag right before national anthem.’
Players from both sides could be seen stood on the perimeter of the field, with the man eventually climbing off the flag near several confused Steelers players.
It was a big day for the green half of New York, with new head coach Aaron Glenn taking charge of his first game against the quarterback he ditched in Aaron Rodgers.
