A 19-year-old driver has been arrested over the death of an 11-year-old boy who was struck by car while riding his bike.
The boy was hit by the black Ford Fiesta at about 14:15 BST on rural Booth Lane in Moston, Middlewich, on Monday.
The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, Cheshire Police said.
Another 19-year-old man who was a passenger in the car was also arrested on suspicion of aiding or abetting dangerous driving.
Both the men have been released on bail as police continue their investigation.
Flowers and cards have been left in tribute to the boy, whose name has not been confirmed, close to the junction where he died.
The force has appealed for anyone who may have seen a black Seat Leon and a black Ford Fiesta travelling close together on the A533 from Sandbach towards Middlewich between 14:00 and 14:15 BST on Monday.
Anyone who saw or may have footage of these vehicles at the time has been urged to contact police.
