Jake Paul doesn’t need much help to make himself the unfancied option in his Netflix mega-fight against Anthony Joshua – but Drake might have just delivered.

The Toronto rapped has lost a series of high-profile bets over the years and appears to have tempted fate for Paul with his selection for Friday’s fight.

Posting his $200,000 (£149,500) wager on an unlikely Paul victory – dubbed a potential ‘biggest upset in sports’ history’ – Drake wrote: ‘Jakeyyyyy boy. Lock in.’

It could lumber Paul with the so-called ‘Drake Curse’ which has previously struck the likes of Tyson Fury, Israel Adesanya and Mike Tyson.

Should Paul, 28, lose, it would not be the first time he has cost Drake on a big bet.

Drake’s bet represents sizeable backing for Paul – but it could continue his ‘curse’

He lost $355,000 (£281,440) after betting on boxing legend Tyson, 59, to beat the YouTuber star back in November of last year.

And he was on the wrong side of the luck with a $1.2million wager on him to beat Tommy Fury when they fought in 2023.

For his part, Paul is backing himself to do the business in Miami.

Speaking ahead of the fight, he said: ‘One of us is going to sleep – that’s what we’re going to do here. That’s what this heavyweight fight is all about.

‘I started my boxing journey here in Miami. We’re bringing it back and I’m going to shock the world and pull off the biggest upset in sports history.’
