Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife Kayla shared a moving post together on social media this week, three months after the death of their baby daughter.

Vesia missed the entirety of his team’s World Series victory last year with what the Dodgers said at the time was a ‘deeply personal family matter’.

He then announced in a joint statement with his wife that their baby daughter, Sterling, had died.

‘Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday October 26th,’ they revealed. ‘There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.’

This week, his wife uploaded a photograph to Instagram which showed them posing in front of the setting sun. They captioned the picture ‘Sterling’s mom and dad’ alongside a heart emoji.

Earlier this month, Vesia’s wife returned to social media to ‘come and say thank you’ to fans for their support. She also provided a heartbreaking update on the family.

In a brutally honest clip on TikTok, she said: ‘I don’t have much to say, honestly. Alex and I are just trying to get through it. Every day is so different for us right now.

‘I am really grateful for the community of you guys and just expressing your support and love toward us. It really has brought us a lot of comfort during this.

‘I do want to share my journey. I don’t know how much I’m gonna share. I don’t know the details of it, but I do know that I want to share and if it can help somebody who’s going through the same thing, you know — feel like they’re not alone.

‘I will not be coming on here and crying. I don’t want to come on the internet and cry. I don’t think that’s fun for anyone. So I think it’ll be a good outlet to talk and share, different from me and Alex talking and talking with our therapist.

‘It’s just a different outlet. And like I said, if it can help somebody who’s going through the same thing, then that’s great.’

Kayla had not posted on the platform since November, when she initially shared the heartbreaking news that their daughter had died.

It read: ‘Our little angel we love you forever & you’re with us always… thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them’.
