New Orleans Saints star Chris Olave has had his season brought to an abrupt halt after doctors made a terrifying discovery in his lung.
The wide receiver was due to play against the Atlanta Falcons in his team’s season finale on Sunday, but he has now been immediately ruled out after a blood clot was found.
Saints beat reporter Nick Underhill was the first to report the shock medical diagnosis, confirming that the player ‘will be fine’ after the clot was ‘caught early before anything bad could happen’.
Olave will be out for this week’s game, therefore ending his 2025 season, with the Saints having failed to make the playoffs with a 6-10 record.
The 25-year-old was initially placed on the injury report with an undisclosed ‘illness’ on Wednesday, which kept him out of practice.
It is currently unclear whether Olave has already been under the knife to fix the issue, or whether it will be required.
The wide receiver enjoyed a brilliant season in an otherwise underwhelming year for the Saints, scoring 10 touchdowns and making 100 catches for 1,163 yards.
It was a career-high stats season for the former Ohio State star, doubling his previous best touchdown tally – back in 2023.
