  • Kevin De Bruyne dropped a major hint on his future after Man City’s FA Cup loss
  • The Belgian star will depart the Etihad this summer after his contract expires

Kevin De Bruyne revealed major information about his future when he spoke after Manchester City’s FA Cup final defeat by Crystal Palace.

The Belgian announced last month that he will leave City this summer upon the expiration of his contract, bringing an end to his decade-long stay at the Etihad.

Aston Villa have been earmarked as his next potential destination, and De Bruyne has also been linked with a move to the MLS, with Chicago Fire having the priority option to negotiate with the star.

Furthermore, reports emerged this month that his representatives have held talks with Italian giants Napoli.

Amid the whirlwind of speculation, De Bruyne has set the record straight on some details of his future, explaining that he still wants to play football at a high level, virtually nipping any rumours of an MLS move in the bud.

The 33-year-old also issued an exciting response when asked if he has been in contact with an English club, simply stating ‘maybe’.

‘I want to play good football, whatever the decision will be,’ said the midfield maestro when asked if he still wants to play in the Premier League.

‘I know you’re trying to guess where I’m going to go but I will make my decision. You guys will know when I know.’

De Bruyne went on to explain that a large deciding factor behind his decision is his family; the star shares three children with Michele Lacroix, whom he married in 2017.

‘I don’t know, it depends who comes. Like I said to my Belgium colleagues, I have a family, I have young kids. I have to make a decision that suits all of us, not just me.

‘When I’m 20 years old and all by myself, I can make a decision that is very easy. But now it’s a bit more complex.’

De Bruyne was then asked if he had been in contact with other clubs, with his contract expiring in just a matter of weeks.

‘Yeah, of course,’ the City legend responded, smiling and shrugging his shoulders.

The reporter continued to press the matter and questioned when fans might learn De Bruyne’s decision on his future.

Keeping his cards close to his chest, he replied, ‘Whenever I’m ready to make one.’

Earlier this month, De Bruyne’s wife was spotted in Napoli, where she is believed to have been house-hunting – another club which the midfielder has been linked to.

The De Bruynes in fact have a tie to the area, having been married in Sorrento, a peninsula town a little further down the Gulf of Naples coast.

Napoli are in prime position to win the Serie A title and sit at the top of the table, one point above Inter Milan, with just two fixtures remaining.
