National HighwaysMotorists face delays after an early morning crash near Manchester Airport closed two lanes of the M56 motorway.
National Highways said lanes three and four from junction 7 to 6 near Bowdon, were shut eastbound causing long queues.
The closures were close to the airport exit.
The agency said the lanes were re-opened just before 08:00 GMT but delays remained.
The crash is understood to have happened at about 07:00 with all traffic traffic held while emergency services attended.
