Barstool Sports chief Dave Portnoy couldn’t hide his frustration at Tony Romo’s performance on CBS during the AFC Wild Card Playoffs.
The former-quarterback-turned-commentator has come under heavy criticism after he called the thrilling showdown between the Buffalo Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday.
And Portnoy piled on in a brutal way on Monday when he lambasted the former Dallas Cowboys star with an outrageous allegation.
Speaking to Greg Olsen on FS1’s Wake Up Barstool, the media mogul praised the Fox Sports commentator in order to mock Romo.
‘Your stock keeps going up,’ Portnoy told Olsen. ‘There’s a guy on the other network, he looks like he’s on drugs or something when he’s calling games. Your stock is going up. Congrats for that.
‘[…] Romo, I mean, come on, what was he talking about? He started that game up with the most nonsensical rant I’ve ever heard.’

Olsen is the No. 2 color commentator for Fox after being demoted from the first-string by Tom Brady’s arrival at the network on his blockbuster 10-year, $375million contract.
Portnoy’s dig at Romo left the analyst in a slightly awkward position, but Olsen avoided taking the bait.
The former tight end simply bid farewell to the FS1 broadcast, bowing out without adding fuel to Portnoy’s fire.
‘He didn’t say it, I said it. I mean, come on,’ Portnoy added to his Wake Up colleagues as Olsen signed off. ‘What was Romo talking about? Tony Romo started that game off with the most nonsensical rant I ever heard.’
Portnoy wasn’t the only one who struggled to listen to Romo’s erratic calls on Saturday as the retired signal caller let out a string of bizarre noises throughout the Wild Card thriller.
In the first quarter, when the Bills blocked a punt from the Jaguars, Romo let out a weird groan that evolved into an awkwardly long chuckle as he watched the replay.
Then, with 2:40 left on the clock in the first quarter, he let out a cringey maniacal laugh when the Jags managed to clinch a crucial first down.
‘Tony Romo is a complete embarrassment,’ one viewer wrote on X. ‘It’s beyond time for CBS to demote or can him.’

Josh Allen had to play through the pain barrier as he led the Bills to a narrow victory
And when he wasn’t letting out performative noises, Romo wasn’t exactly offering cutting-edge insight to his viewers.
‘I think whoever wins this game has a chance to go to the Super Bowl,’ Romo said on multiple occasions during the broadcast about the two playoff teams.
Others found his guffawing about Bills quarterback Josh Allen insufferable, too.
‘Tony Romo loves Josh Allen more than his own family,’ one fan wrote on X.
Another said: ‘Tony Romo is so bad now. He just says nonsense like hes making real points.
‘Josh Allen just did the most basic of presnap reads that any QB should be doing and he says that its his playoff experience showing up. Please get that clown out of the booth.’
A different viewer posted: ‘Tony Romo is currently on pace for the worst broadcast performance of all time.’
The game itself ended with the Bills beating the Jaguars 27-24, with Bills quarterback Josh Allen scoring the decisive touchdown for Buffalo to win on the road.
