President Donald Trump’s widespread implementation of tariffs is having a massive negative effect on the American economy, threatening the livelihoods of both the working class and millionaires alike.
Among the rich publicly expressing their anger at the situation includes Barstool Sports president Dave Portnoy.
Portnoy has been a vocal supporter of Trump multiple times in the past – supporting him in each election that the 45th and 47th presidents has run in.
But now, considering the sudden economic downturn in America, Portnoy recently shared his portfolio woes on a livestream.
‘Dave, how much are you down right now and today? Seven million,’ the Barstool Sports leader said.
‘I’m down seven million bucks in stocks and crypto. And it’s Tariff City.
The tariffs imposed by American President Donald Trump have led to a stock market collapse

Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy says he’s down seven million dollars on Friday alone

Trump implemented a sweeping reciprocal tariff plan at the White House earlier this week
‘Trump has put his tariffs all over the place. I’ve been trying to understand them. I don’t. It’s more a trade deficit tariff to me.
‘Hey, we get this much shit from you and you get this much from us. Let’s even that up. Let’s get some wacky formula and do tariffs. And everything’s in the shitter because of it.’
Despite having voted for him last November, Portnoy has been critical of Trump’s administration in recent weeks.
At the end of last month after the government’s ‘war plans’ to attack Houthi rebels in Yemen were leaked to the public, Portnoy was critical of the reaction to that information getting out.
‘Listen, we’ve all texted the wrong person,’ Portnoy said in the self-shot video. ‘We’ve all emailed the wrong person… We are not the secretary of defense, we are not the national security advisor, we are not the Vice President of the United States… Yeah, mistakes happen. This one can’t.’
‘Guess what,’ Portnoy said of the discussion on the messaging app, Signal. ‘It’s super sensitive, it’s super classified, it’s surreal that these guys added Jeffrey Goldberg to this group chat. They were talking about the attack, leading up to the attack, all the way to a couple of hours when they were gonna do it, the time, the weather, you name it.’
Portnoy took particular umbrage with Hegseth’s denials.
‘Pete Hegseth, immediate reaction, is like: ”No, that never happened. We didn’t leak any classified information. No classified information in there,”’ Portnoy said.

Portnoy recently criticized Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over the Yemen leak

Portnoy criticized the administration’s attempts to downplay the severity of the information
‘If this information somehow got out to the Houthis,’ he continued, ‘lots American soldiers could have died.’
But Portnoy wasn’t letting Trump off the hook.
‘The reaction of Pete Hegseth and President Trump has been to kind of poo-poo it – be like: ”’There’s no classified information in there,”’ he said.
