Join the DAFNI data sharing event in Belfast
Local businesses are invited to join a two-day event hosted by the Data and Analytics Facility for National Infrastructure (DAFNI) at Queen’s University Belfast on 28 and 29 October 2024.
The event will explore important issues related to data sharing in infrastructure systems. It will bring together industry experts, academics, and government representatives to explore the challenges and opportunities of data sharing across various sectors.
Day 1 – Roadshow event
The roadshow event will open with a keynote presentation from Chris Johnson, Chief Scientific Adviser for the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). You will then get a chance to see DAFNI demonstration and hear lightning talks from leading university researchers on topics like encrypted data, supply chains, digital twins, data analytics in healthcare, and agriculture.
Attendees will have the chance to network, collaborate, and discuss data sharing practices, with a focus on driving innovation and shaping the future of infrastructure systems.
Day 2 – Data sharing workshop
The workshop aims to collect evidence for the DSIT’s pilot initiative to address the barriers and opportunities to data sharing. The overall objective is to test and understand the need for a national research cloud through a series of pilot studies.
The workshop will consist of short talks, an overview from DSIT and a series of facilitated discussions. The outcomes of this workshop will inform DSIT’s future investment case for a UK research data cloud.
Lunch and refreshments will be included on both days. It offers a unique chance for local businesses to engage with academic and government institutions and contribute to a national conversation about data infrastructure.
If you are interested in attending, you should register by 5pm on 21 October 2024.
