Oliver Glasner’s bombshell revelation that he will leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season has yet to be acknowledged by the club, either in an official statement or on its website.

The Austrian manager, who led Crystal Palace to FA Cup glory last campaign, sensationally revealed on Friday how he told chairman Steve Parish all the way back in October that he will be departing Selhurst Park at the end of the season.

In the same press conference, Glasner also shared that captain Marc Guehi is on his way to Manchester City imminently, with a £20million fee agreed between the two clubs ahead of the England star’s contract at Selhurst Park expiring in the summer.

Despite the busy day of news, Crystal Palace chose not to address Glasner’s comments by remaining silent on the club’s website and social media accounts, refusing to put anything on the record.

Crystal Palace reporter Bobby Manzi admitted it was strange that the club hadn’t addressed Glasner’s comments in an official address, writing in a post on X: ‘Surprised the club haven’t released a statement acknowledging Glasner’s comments and putting it on record that they plan to work together for the rest of the season to bring another trophy to Selhurst Park. Quite odd.’

Two years ago, when former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp announced he would be leaving Anfield at the end of the 2023-24 season, the Premier League giants delivered the news officially across all club channel to keep fans informed.

The first two paragraphs of the article on Liverpool’s website read: ‘Jurgen Klopp has announced his decision to step down as Liverpool manager at the end of the current season, having informed the club’s ownership of his wish to leave his position when the 2023-24 campaign comes to a close.

‘After guiding the Reds to another Wembley final on Wednesday night, the 56-year-old will continue to oversee the team’s remaining fixtures of 2023-24 before bringing the curtain down on a glorious eight-and-a-half-year managerial reign at Anfield, which has seen the club win six major trophies under his guidance to date.’

The same occurred at Chelsea when former women’s team boss Emma Hayes announced she would be the leaving at the end of the season, and even at Eintracht Frankfurt prior to Glasner’s departure there in 2023.

In what promises to be an extremely busy fortnight for Palace until the end of the summer window, Daily Mail Sport reported on Saturday that Juventus are stepping up their pursuit of Jean-Philippe Mateta in the wake of Glasner’s revelation.

The 28-year-old forward has 18 months left on contract and is known to fancy another challenge abroad, although Juventus will have to match Palace’s valuation for any hope of a transfer this month.

Palace have looked at Jorgen Strand Larsen of Wolves, Joaquín Panichelli of Strasbourg and are working on a deal for Angers’ Sidiki Cherif as they scramble to bolster attacking options.

They need a centre back to replace Guehi and know clubs are circling round midfielder Adam Wharton for the summer too.
