Several dead after fire at Swiss Alpine bar during New Year celebrations

Several people have been killed and others injured after a fire broke out at a bar in the Swiss Alps during New Year celebrations, police said early today.

The blaze occurred at Le Constellation, a bar in the ski resort town of Crans-Montana, where revellers had gathered to mark the start of the new year. Police confirmed multiple fatalities and injuries but did not immediately release exact figures.

The fire broke out at around 1.30am in the Alpine resort municipality, located in southwestern Switzerland. Emergency services were deployed to the scene as authorities began assessing the damage and casualties.
