Confidence is a key trait for any NFL quarterback to have. However, it appears that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is feeling a bit too good about his team’s playoff chances.
Prescott, who missed a majority of the 2024 season with an injury, is fully recovered and ready to return to the field this year.
He didn’t put on his helmet for the first preseason game of 2025 when the Cowboys faced the Los Angeles Rams, but he was present at the game.
In an image captured by WFAA’s Mike Leslie, Prescott was seen meeting with Rams owner Stan Kroenke on the field prior to the start of the contest.
During their conversation, Prescott boldly told Kroenke, ‘We’ll meet y’all in the NFC Championship.’
It’s a bold claim for Prescott – who plays for a team that has not reached that stage of the playoffs in 30 years.
NFL fans eviscerated Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott for a bold prediction he made

Prescott told Rams owner Stan Kroenke (pictured above) that Dallas would see the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game. The Cowboys haven’t played in that game since 1995.

Prescott didn’t play in Dallas’ first preseason game of the year on Saturday, in a loss to LA
Naturally, NFL fans on social media mocked Prescott for his claim: ‘I want to live in this kind of delusion’.
Another account said, sarcastically, ‘That’s so nice of Dak to go ahead and pledge to buy his team tickets to the NFC Championship game. Such an example of being a good friend, bro. Bravo, bro.’
‘He actually thinks this year won’t be just like the other 29 years before,’ another said.
The Cowboys haven’t gotten to the NFC Championship game since 1995 – the year they won Super Bowl XXX over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Since then, they’ve made the playoffs in 13 of 29 seasons and have only won five games combined over that span. Last season, Dallas didn’t even make the playoffs.
Moreover, the Cowboys play in the NFC East – the same division that features the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and NFC runner-up Washington Commanders.
It’s also a bit of an odd prediction to think that the Rams – a team which barely made the playoffs in 2024 – would be meeting Dallas in that game.
The Cowboys ended up losing to the Rams 31-21 on a night where other stars like CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens didn’t take the field.
Dallas’ next preseason game is on August 16 against the Baltimore Ravens.
