The police officer that handcuffed Tyreek Hill and pinned him face-down to the floor on the first day of the 2024 NFL season has celebrated the wide receiver’s release from the Miami Dolphins.
Danny Torres, who is now a retired cop, forcibly removed Hill from his car just outside Hard Rock Stadium, where the NFL star was driving to play in a game after he allegedly sped past officers.
Police bodycam footage later showed Torres appearing to get aggressive when Hill did not follow the demands from a fellow officer to keep his window rolled down. Hill was then forcibly removed from his car by Torres, before another officer helped pin the NFL player to the ground.
Torres, who was later put on administrative duty because of his role in the incident, wrote on Facebook: ‘Hmmmmm… I guess it took a bit, but KARMA got you. Now that I am retired I can tell you how I feel about you.
‘You’re an entitled A**HOLE and an embarrassment to the team and city that kissed your ass. I wish you the best and hope you are able to afford ALL that child support, especially now that you’re unemployed.
‘But I’m sure someone will pick you up and you will cause havoc in their team and city. Just how you did in Miami. Btw (by the way), next time, roll you F…..G window down.’
Danny Torres (left), the police officer who clashed with Tyreek Hill, has celebrated his Miami Dolphins release with a social media post
Torres told the Miami New Times he was ‘crucified’ for his treatment of Hill back in 2024
The incident occurred on a day when Hill was driving to play in a Miami Dolphins game
Remarkably, Torres didn’t stop there. He confirmed the validity of the post to the Miami New Times and insisted that he has no regrets in revisiting his clash with Hill.
He reportedly told the publication he ‘100 percent’ stands by the social media post and that he feels he was ‘pretty much crucified for doing my job’ in the outcry that came from how Hill was treated by police.
Torres added: ‘I was actually nice. He destroyed me and my reputation when the incident happened, and I had to stay quiet because I was still employed.
‘But I am retired, so now is my turn to say the truth.’
Footage showed Torres yelling at Hill about failing to keep his window rolled down.
‘When we tell you to do something, you do it,’ Torres shouted at him. ‘You understand? Not what you want but what we tell you. You are a little f***ing confused. Stop crying.’
Calais Campbell, who at the time was a teammate of Hill’s at the Dolphins, drove by the incident as it happened and pulled over to try and calm the situation. But Torres ended up putting him in handcuffs.
‘It was a crazy situation that was not necessary,’ Campbell said. ‘I pulled over and I was just going to sit there and kind of observe for a while.

‘And then I saw an officer use, like, unnecessary force. So I get out, like, “Hey, hold on. This is Tyreek Hill. This is my friend. What’s going on here?”‘
Hill was eventually allowed to go on and play in the game, scoring an 80-yard touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars and celebrating by mimicking being arrested by holding his hands behind his back.
After Miami Police assigned Torres to administrative duties after the incident, Hill said: ‘That should tell you everything you need to know.’
Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, claims he was cited for reckless driving and driving without a license.
Hill celebrated a touchdown in a game the same day by pretending to be arrested
As for what’s next for Hill in his career, he’ll probably have to play a waiting game.
He’s one of the best wide receivers in the NFL on his day, but his 2025 season was curtailed when he dislocated his knee and tore his ACL last September against the New York Jets.
Hill turns 32 on March 1, so teams will question if he can return to his explosive best. But a team, surely, will take a chance on a player with a potential upside as high as Hill’s.
