Cooper Johns has accused Kyle Sandilands of selling him a lemon after his $80,000 Land Rover broke down just after he bought it from the controversial radio star.
Johns was a regular on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show before his stunning resignation in January.
The son of footy great Matthew Johns quit live on air, saying he was going to move to other opportunities that ‘pay more’.
Now he has revealed that the car he bought from his former boss broke down the day after he resigned.
‘The day after I left, the car started smoking from the engine,’ Cooper said from Las Vegas as he attended the NRL season opener on Sunday.
‘It broke down and completely s**t itself.

Sandilands is well-known for his love of luxury vehicles including his recent purchase of a $464,000 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC (pictured)
‘It was smoking like something out of Grand Theft Auto. I got out at North Sydney and started running 200 metres away … I thought it was going to blow up.
‘It was like brand new when Kyle had it. He had it at his Port Douglas house and wanted to sell it.
‘I had previously crashed my car, a Subaru XV, so I bought it. I rang him straight away and told him he had sabotaged my car engine and had got his revenge for me quitting the show. He swore he hadn’t.
‘I said to Kyle: ‘You’ve sold me an $80,000 dud’. It’s still in the mechanic’s shop. That’s why I’m over in Las Vegas, so I can win enough money to pay for the repairs.’
Sandilands has an expansive fleet of luxury cars, recently adding to his collection with a $464,000 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC.
The shock jock customised the vehicle with personalised number plates and an all-black interior accented by bold red lighting.
While the exact amount he paid is unknown, the added features likely pushed the price beyond its listed $464,000.
The German luxury marque Maybach, founded in 1909 and now part of Mercedes-Benz AG, fits with Kyle’s long-standing passion for high-end cars, which he frequently showcases on social media.
Johns was in Las Vegas for the NRL season-opener on the weekend when he revealed his car is at the workshop
It comes after the former NRL star was involved in a car crash this year (pictured) that left him concussed and injured
It comes after Johns was involved in a serious crash in Sydney while driving home from work after a taxi allegedly swerved into his lane and their tyres clipped, sending his Subaru flipping onto its roof.
Johns was found unconscious and upside down in traffic, suffering whiplash and concussion symptoms, including vomiting later that night.
He told listeners he can’t remember the moment the crash began.
‘I don’t really remember how it happened… I’m driving along in my Subaru. It gets me from A to B, usually. Sometimes it has a detour and flips me upside down,’ he said.
‘My first memory is just feeling the hit of the tyre. The cops told me they had never seen anything like this because his [the taxi driver] car was not damaged at all. He drove off. He was fine.
‘I felt like Katy Perry… My glovebox and middle compartment opened. Everything was floating in front of me.
‘My spare tyre that was in the boot flew into the backseat… I just landed on the concrete and then I was sliding along the concrete on the roof.
‘I was sitting in my seat kind of dazed… First instinct was, ‘Did I just kill someone?’ That was the scariest part. I didn’t care what happened to me, but if I just hit someone I couldn’t deal with that.’
