Funding of up to £14 million for organisations to support the development of UK quantum computing.
This competition opens on 27 March 2026 and closes at 11am on 29 May 2026.
Who it is for
This competition is open to single applicants.
To lead a project, you can
- be an organisation of any size, including those based in the EU, EEA or internationally
- work alone or with the subcontracted skills and expertise of others from business, research organisations, research and technology organisations, or the third sector (charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups)
Your project must
- start on 1 October 2026
- end by 30 September 2028
- last between 18 and 24 months
- have total costs of no more than £14 million, inclusive of VAT
- intend to exploit the capabilities and results in the UK
Support you can get
This competition is the first phase of a wider, multi‑phase programme to support the development of UK quantum computing.
The key aims of this phase 1 competition are to
- validate technologies and architectures to scale performance of the current state-of-the-art quantum computers
- deploy operational testbeds for independent evaluation and verification
- accelerate the growth in user adoption and developer ecosystem
- accelerate the growth of enterprise operations and industrial capabilities to deliver economic and societal impact in the UK
For this phase, you can get funding of up to £14 million, inclusive of VAT.
Successful applicants from phase 1 will be invited to apply for phase 2. Phase 2 contracts will offer funding of up to £75 million, inclusive of VAT.
