Washington Commanders fans were left fearing the worst when quarterback Jayden Daniels appeared to sustain a serious injury on Sunday afternoon.

The signal caller hobbled off the field during the third quarter of the Commanders’ Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The 24-year-old was taken down by a brutal hit and lost the ball. He stayed down and was seen clutching his right leg.

Daniels limped off the field and immediately headed to the medical tent to be examined. The Commanders listed him as questionable to return soon after.

Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota stepped in to take the snaps in Daniels’ absence.

Daniels has already missed time this season after suffering a knee sprain during Washington’s Week 2 loss against the Green Bay Packers.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels sparked injury fears on Sunday

He was ruled out of their following clash against the Las Vegas Raiders, which the Commanders convincingly won 41-24.

It was the first NFL game in Daniels’ career he has missed with injury, as he played in all 20 of the Commanders’ contests during his rookie season.

Daniels has been the catalyst for Washington’s resurgence, leading the team to its best season in over 30 years, reaching the NFC Championship Game.

He helped the team snap a 19-year postseason win drought and is widely regarded as the key cog in their bid to go one better this season and fight for a Lombardi Trophy.
