Oklahoma football star Keontez Lewis crashed into a brick wall in a scary incident during the Sooners’ clash with Kent State Saturday.

The wide receiver was attempting to catch a pass in the end zone when he fell, head first, into the wall at the end of the field.

Lewis lay motionless on the ground before he was put on a stretcher and carted from the field.

The crowd in Norman, Oklahoma, applauded as Lewis was lifted on to the cart while his teammates gathered round.

The receiver had been running at full speed before his head hit the wall and snapped back on impact.

His teammates formed a tunnel as the cart drove away from the end zone and carried Lewis off the field.

A few minutes later, Oklahoma Football’s official X page posted a prayer emoji and tagged Lewis’ account.

At halftime on Saturday, it was reported by Sooner Sports Network – Oklahoma’s in-house radio station – that Lewis’ x-rays came back negative and that the receiver was walking around the locker room.

But the scary incident nevertheless sparked calls for the Sooners to better protect players.

‘It’s time @OU_Football adds padding to both end zones. Player safety has to come first,’ one account wrote.

‘Praying for Keontez Lewis… I think we all can agree it’s time to put some padding on the walls of both end zones,’ another said.

A third added: ‘A brick wall should never be that close to a football field. Never.’
