Oklahoma’s basketball win over Georgia was delayed in bizarre fashion on Saturday night after a popcorn machine caught fire up in the stands.

The unusual incident brought the game to a halt for roughly four minutes as players and coaches looked on in disbelief at Lloyd Noble Center, where the Sooners eventually earned a 94-78 win over the Bulldogs.

Fortunately, no one was injured by the popcorn fire in the venue’s main concourse before it was extinguished.

‘Oh my goodness, we’ve got a full-blown fire going on right now,’ SEC Network’s Rodney Terry said during their live broadcast of the game.

‘A popcorn machine it looks like,’ fellow commentator Kevin Fitzgerald added. ‘You can see the sprinkler overhead system is working. Goodness gracious.’

Terry then responded: ‘We literally had the roof on fire. The roof is on fire.’

After the flames were put out, Oklahoma used an 18-0 second-half run to seal a superb win on home soil.

Tae Davis had 19 points, while Nijel Pack and reserve Kuol Atak both scored 18 as the Sooners condemned the Bulldogs to their second straight loss and fifth in six.

Davis made 7 of 10 shots and 5 of 7 free throws for Oklahoma, who beat No. 15 Vanderbilt by a point on the road last time out to end a nine-game losing streak.

Pack hit 6 of 10 shots with four 3-pointers and Atak did his damage on 6-for-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Reserve Dayton Forsythe scored 13.
