This event will highlight the importance of co-operative businesses and their impact on our social economy

In celebration of International Co-operatives Day, Belfast City Council is hosting a Co-operative Business Showcase to highlight their importance and impact on our social economy. 

Several co-operative businesses will be exhibiting their products and services along with speakers and panels to discuss co-operative business in Northern Ireland. 

About the event

This event would be suitable for 

  • Aspiring entrepreneurs – learn how to start a Co-operative and build a business that puts people first.
  • Local Co-operative members – connect with fellow Co-operatives, share your story, and showcase your impact.
  • Community leaders and activists – discover how Co-operatives can drive social change and economic justice.
  • Students and Educators – explore real-world examples of sustainable, inclusive business models.
  • Policy Makers and Public Sector Professionals – understand the role of Co-operatives in community development and public service delivery.
  • Ethical Consumers – meet the makers behind local, ethical products and services.
  • Anyone Curious About Co-operatives – whether you’re new to the concept or a long-time supporter.

Alongside the exhibition, there will be a stage hosting talks and panels with question and answer opportunities. 

This will include 

  • Trademark – experts in worker rights and Co-operative development.
  • Co-operatives Alternatives – supporting the growth of Co-operatives in Northern Ireland.
  • Boundary Brewery – a successful Co-operative brewery.
  • Belfast Cleaning Society – a worker-owned cleaning Co-operative.
