A child has died from a suspected dog bite at a property in Dormanstown in North Yorkshire.
Armed police raced to the scene in Hardale Drive and killed a dog in the street. Officers seized another dog at the home.
Crime scene investigators were also called in, according to the Northern Echo.
Cleveland Police said officers were called to following concerns for a child.
“Upon arriving at the property, the child had sadly died,” they said.
“The child is believed to have died as a result of a dog bite.”
District Commander for Redcar and Cleveland Emily Harrison said: “Understandably this is a distressing and tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the child’s family.
“There is a scene in place at the address while an investigation into the child’s death begins.
“I would encourage anyone who has concerns or information to please speak to an officer.”
