Chelsea are weighing up a move for Jarrod Bowen, with West Ham United under pressure to sell their star after relegation.

The club have been considering the 29-year-old for some time, especially due to an awareness that they could do with more leadership in the dressing room. Bowen would also give them a range of options due to his versatility in attack.

Chelsea are not the only suitors for the winger however, with a number of other clubs said to be considering a move.

There is a belief that Bowen could be available on a value deal, especially as he has one of West Ham’s bigger contracts now they are in the Championship. The feeling is that the east London club now need to sell.

While West Ham would want about £50m, industry figures believe competing clubs will try and do a deal for £40m.

Bowen has been one of West Ham’s great modern players, having served as captain and scored the 90th-minute matchwinner in their 2-1 Conference League final victory over Fiorentina in Prague back in 2023. That was the club’s first trophy for 43 years.

And after West Ham’s 14-year stay in the top flight was ended when a 3-0 final-day win over Leeds came too late in a miserable season to overhaul Tottenham, Bowen apologised to fans for the relegation.

“It’s hard to post something like this when all you’re feeling is embarrassment and pain,” Bowen posted on Instagram.

“I could write loads trying to explain where it all went wrong this season, but honestly what you deserve from me is an apology.

“Winning that trophy in Prague was the best night of my career. Sunday was the worst. We just weren’t good enough. Simple as that. And that’s why the season ended the way it did.”
