Casper Stylsvig, the former Chelsea chief revenue officer, is to join the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Stylsvig, an ex-Manchester United, Fulham and Barcelona exec departed Stamford Bridge last month after less than two years in the role, with the club without a shirt sponsor.

He will become executive director, sports business at the HKJC, which boasts an annual turnover of £28.8bn and oversee a staff of 3,000 in what is being viewed as a step up from his role at Stamford Bridge.

Stylsvig was hired in November 2023 by Chelsea. During his time, Daily Mail Sport understands a number of offers were made to sponsor the shirt – a key source of revenue – but none were deemed to be of sufficient value or to fit with the Chelsea’s objectives.

The club have reportedly looking for between £60m and £65m a season, with new Saudi airline Riyadh Air strongly linked.

Stylsvig, who starts in Hong Kong in January, will oversee horse racing, football and lottery and all race operations.

‘This role represents a natural progressive next step in my career — bringing together best practices from global football to help shape the future of a truly unique, multi-sport business.’
