A singer and councillor are among 11 people who have denied charges related to illegal dog breeding and fraud.

Sara Pritchard Davies, 28, former winner of S4C’s Can I Gymru (A song for Wales) competition, and Euros Davies, 59, a Ceredigion county councillor, appeared at Swansea Crown Court in the case brought by Ceredigion council, working with trading standards.

Sara Davies pleaded not guilty in Welsh to participating in a fraudulent business, namely the unlawful breeding and supply of dogs, and a second charge of acquiring property, namely money, through criminal activity.

Euros Davies was among a group of people who pleaded not guilty to the same charges.

Margaret Jones, 70, and Rebecca Ellen Bailey, 30, pleaded not guilty to a single charge of participating in a fraudulent business, namely the unlawful breeding and supply of dogs.

Euros Davies, Delyth Mathias, 29, Cara Barrett, 38, Rhydian Davies, 27, and David Bethell, 37, pleaded not guilty to a charge of participating in a fraudulent business, namely the unlawful breeding and supply of dogs, while Euros Davies and Mr Mathias pleaded not guilty to further charges of acquiring property, namely money, through criminal activity.

All eight were released on bail until a hearing on 2 September.

Thomas Jones, 26, David Peter Jones, 76, and Nerys Wyn Davies, 54, were not asked to enter pleas, and will appear in court again on 12 August.

A trial date has been set for 9 November 2026.
