Kellie Finlayson has told social media users ‘to be kind’ as she issued a reaction to disgraceful speculation that she has actually been healthy and well, despite living with stage four cancer.

The 29-year-old, who is married to former Port Adelaide star Jeremy Finlayson, was devastatingly first diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2021 at the age of 25.

In 2022, scans revealed that Finlayson’s cancer had spread to her lungs.

The proud mum has been candid and honest about her treatment over the years and later underwent thoracic surgery to treat the cancer.

Throughout her journey, Finlayson has continued to inspire others and spread positivity.

She regularly shares insights into her family life and treatment on social media and has amassed over 73,500 followers on Instagram. In the past year, Finlayson has continued to effortlessly dazzle her followers with her elegant fashion style and has also provided fans with some very interesting beauty and skincare tips.

However, taking to Instagram this week, she revealed that some awful trolls have questioned how she continues to look well and healthy, despite suffering from the horrific illness.

‘Also fam, not that I should need to confirm this but I am very much still living with a stage four diagnosis and in the thick of active treatment,’ the author wrote on her Instagram story.

‘Daily chemotherapy on top of three weekly infusions, with a side of surgery here and there.

‘I’ve heard so much noise and read so many misleading comments lately that suggest I’ve been, quote, “fine” for over 18 months now.’

‘While I understand that I look well, I do that on purpose.

‘I am the queen of tricking my own mind into believing it too.

‘I show up on here in all of my hats, I’m a mum, wife, author, keynote speaker, teacher, advocate and of course, living with cancer. It’s not, and never has been, the only part of me.

‘I’ve never let it consume me entirely and while the beginning was a little scarier, I’m still very much in the exact same position.’

Finlayson then added a note at the bottom of her story.

‘Reminder today, to be kind and unassuming.’

The inspiring young mother has continued to stun her followers on Instagram and on Tuesday published several snaps of herself looking absolutely radiant as she posed for photographs while wearing a beautiful white gown.

She has previously opened up on what it was like to live with a stage four cancer diagnosis during an appearance on the Jess Rowe Big Talk Show podcast’s Safe Space series.

Finlayson, who is also an ambassador for the Jodie Lee foundation – a not-for-profit dedicated to helping to raise awareness about bowel cancer – had explained that she was ‘thriving’ in the wake of her diagnosis, but was pressed on what she meant by that comment.

‘It completely comes from mindset,’ she said.

‘I feel like I still live each day the same as I used to, if not with more life, if that makes sense.

‘I turned a really s****ty situation into a pretty incredible one and a really powerful one with a lot of purpose.’

In April, she also released her first book, entitled: ‘There Must Be More: Finding Purpose In The Face Of The Unimaginable’, in which she reflects on fighting stage four cancer, and how she has continued to defy the odds.

And on top of that, she recently revealed some huge news that she would be returning to take up her role as a maths teacher after a three-year break.

She took to social media to announce the news, publishing a snap of herself in her work clothes looking radiant.

‘First day back on the tools in three years,’ she wrote in the photo.
