A Southern California criminal investigation uncovered a staggering $6 million haul of stolen luxury goods, from Hermès Birkin bags to Patek Philippe watches, just weeks after authorities arrested a man allegedly behind a string of high-end burglaries.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody on February 25 in connection with a January residential burglary.

A search of his Temecula home uncovered an extraordinary cache of stolen items: more than 100 designer handbags, including Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Birkin, and 22 luxury watches, including Patek, Audemars Piguet and Rolex, police announced Thursday.

Birkin bags typically retail between $10,000 and $15,000, but rare or exotic models, like the ones beloved by celebrities, including the Kardashians, can exceed $200,000. On the resale market, popular sizes often sell between $25,000 and $35,000.

Investigators also seized gold coins, jewelry, 20 firearms and more than $800,000 in cash.

The man now faces multiple charges, including residential burglary, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of stolen property, as well as alleged crimes tied to other cities and multiple victims, authorities said.

Detectives believe the man is part of an organized residential burglary ring operating across several Southern California counties, including Los Angeles and San Diego, but did not elaborate any further in a news release Thursday.

Police said that the investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests may be forthcoming as law enforcement agencies continue to work together to identify other suspects and fully assess the scope of any potential burglary network.

The Independent has contacted the El Segundo Police Department for comment. The department received help in this case from the San Diego and Glendale Police Departments.
