Coates added: “It felt like meeting a friend. I wasn’t expecting to have a chat with him and then when they asked if I was comfortable, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, yeah’.”
The artist told Radio Manchester her timeline illustration started in 1993, when Princess Dianna took William to The Passage homelessness charity in London.
She said: “In 2025, Prince William actually took Prince George with him. A bit of history repeating itself. That’s what he signed when he was with me.”
Coates said The Prince of Wales praised her work.
“He couldn’t believe I’d done everything in the time I’d done it, which I took as the biggest compliment,” she added.
