Despite safety Shilo Sanders’ recent ejection from their preseason finale, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not closed the door on keeping Deion Sanders’ son, according to one report.
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio has been told the team enjoyed having the 25-year-old University of Colorado product at the facility, where he’d been a respectful participant at training camp until being waived on Sunday in the aftermath of Saturday’s ejection.
‘You can’t throw punches in this league. It’s inexcusable. They’re gonna get you every time,’ Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles told reporters afterwards. ‘You gotta grow from that.’
Despite going undrafted, Shilo was competing for a roster spot in Tampa, where he could still return as a practice squad invitee in 2025, Florio reports.
Shilo was tossed on Saturday after throwing a punch at Buffalo Bills tight end Zach Davidson, who calmly walked away from the fracas officials focused their attention on the former Buffaloes star.
Florio also reported that Shilo was ‘remorseful’ in the locker room afterwards.

The older brother of Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Shilo has made fewer headlines at the college and pro levels, but has experienced his share of drama since his high school days in the Dallas area.
According to federal and Texas state court files obtained by DailyMail.com, Shilo was accused in 2015 of attacking John Darjean at Triple A Academy, a high school within the now-shuttered Focus Academies where Deion served as CEO.
Shilo allegedly slammed Darjean in the chest and continued to punch the security guard after he attempted to discipline the student for being disruptive and violating the school’s no-phone policy.
Darjean filed a lawsuit in Dallas in 2016, claiming he ‘sustained severe and permanent injuries including a broken neck, damage to his cervical spine, permanent neurological injuries and irreversible incontinence.’

In a separate legal filing, Shilo acknowledged that an incident took place, but denied or claimed he failed to remember many of Darjean’s accusations.
Charges were never filed in the case, but Shilo did lose the lawsuit and was ordered to pay $11.89 million to Darjean. Since then, Shilo has filed for bankruptcy.
Darjean’s legal team has accused Shilo of failing to report all of his possessions and the attorneys point to his social media accounts to prove he has more to disclose.
‘Contrary to the schedules, Shilo has admitted acquiring vast amounts of high-end and expensive clothing,’ reads one 2024 filing. ‘For example, on his YouTube Channel posted on May 4, 2023, he states, ‘Alright we at the Louis (Vuitton) Store I am trying to spend at least $50,000 today.’
Shilo has denied failing to disclose his NIL contracts.
