LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau shed some light on discussions he had with President Donald Trump at a dinner before LIV’s golf event in Miami.
Trump jetted down to Miami on Thursday to speak at a dinner of LIV Golf stars before the Saudi rebel tour hosted its event at the Doral course the President owns.
DeChambeau spoke to Fox & Friends on Friday morning to speak about his interaction with Trump as well as the ongoing negotiations between LIV and the PGA Tour.
‘He loves golf, by the way. I think he’s such a great ambassador for the game of golf and for diplomacy, in general,’ DeChambeau revealed.
‘It’s been fun to play some golf with him, get to know him a little bit better, and just recognize that he’s just a normal person.’
Over the summer, the two-time major champion played a round with then-candidate Trump for charity on his YouTube channel.

Trump spoke at a dinner before LIV Golf tees off their three-round event at his golf course

DeChambeau said there wasn’t much politics discussed, but that he interacted with Trump, Florida governor Ron DeSantis and celebrities like country music singer Kid Rock
On Thursday night, Trump spoke at a dinner with players and other celebrities right after he announced widespread tariffs on foreign countries.
‘Man, we were with Kid Rock and [Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis] and we just had a great dinner,’ he said of the evening.
‘We didn’t talk much about politics, we just enjoyed our time together. And we’re honestly really grateful that he’s given us the golf course to play on, and super excited to be around him.’
Trump has been serving as a middleman for working on a merger with the two rival tours.
Earlier this year, Trump hosted a meeting at the White House between PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan and Saudi PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan to try and help move along a merger that has been in discussions for years.
‘Personally for me, there’s been nothing but positivity from this league,’ DeChambeau said of LIV. ‘What we’ve been able to do across the globe is quite inspiring for the younger generation of golf.’
DeChambeau didn’t reveal when a deal could be reached: ‘We are pushing the boundaries, for sure. I think it showed the PGA what potentials there are, and hopefully something can get done at some point and time.’
