Amon Ra St. Brown has revealed Dan Campbell told the Detroit Lions defense to hit Caleb Williams hard as he veered out of bounds in their Thanksgiving game.
The Lions beat the Bears 23-20 last week but Jack Campbell sparked controversy with a late low hit on the quarterback Williams that the Chicago players took exception to.
Now, speaking on his podcast, St. Brown has revealed that Lions coach Campbell had a plan to get after Williams ahead of the game.
‘In our team meeting, Dan was talking to us and he was showing clips of Caleb going out of bounds and coming back in and going out,’ the wide receiver said.
‘He said “no you don’t” – the beginning of it was “no you don’t” and then it was just clips of him doing that.
‘He goes “if he does this, we are going to hit his ass. I already warned the refs, the refs know” so when it happens in the game, I already know there is no flag.
“He goes, ‘If he does this, we’re going to hit his a**. I already warned the refs, the refs know.'”

The Lions had a pre-planned tactic to hit Caleb Williams hard in their Thanksgiving showdown
‘Out of bounds, steps back in, Jack (Campbell) hit his ass. We were like “yeah” and everyone on the Bears was like “that’s a flag!”. We were like “bro he went out and came back in, took it”‘.
Williams was unhappy with the hit, telling reporters after the loss: ‘Yeah, I… that play was funky. Just put it that way. I don’t really – you know, I didn’t really appreciate the play.
‘He just kind of dove straight at my knee. So I didn’t really get that. Definitely kind of frustrated about that one, just ‘cause you know, whatever.
‘Yeah, knee’s good. Nothing wrong with it. Think I just got a bruise. But the play was, the play was funky.’
The Lions are tied with Super Bowl winners Kansas City Chiefs for the best record in the NFL at 11-1 after the win over Chicago.
They are back in action Thursday in a blockbuster showdown with Green Bay Packers in an NFC North divisional rivalry at Ford Field.
The Packers are 9-3 but third, a win behind Minnesota Vikings in second.
