Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, seemed to address the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk with a cryptic social media post.
Brittany, who is a co-owner of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current, re-posted a quote from author Sharon McMahon to her Instagram story.
The quote read: ‘Hate will not get us out of this mess. Your feelings might lie and try to tell you otherwise, but hate doesn’t know how to heal or build, only how to harm and destroy.’
She did not offer any other clues to what this quote may be referencing. However, it does come in the aftermath of the assassination of the far-right activist on the campus of Utah State University on Wednesday.
Mahomes is rumored to be a supporter of the Republican Party. However, the Texas native has not publicly stated her political affiliation.
Last year, in the run-up to the 2024 Presidential election, she received criticism for ‘liking’ a ‘Make America Great Again’ post on Instagram.

Kirk was shot in the neck and killed at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday
At the time, she responded, ‘To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood.
‘There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.’
Brittany then received praise from then-candidate Donald Trump, calling her ‘beautiful’ as well.
The sports world has had varying reactions to Kirk’s death – with many sharing their thoughts on both sides of the political aisle.
Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy, who vocally supported Trump, says he felt the need to ramp up his security detail after the shooting.
Multiple NFL players spoke out against the shooting, including Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Giants quarterback and Utah native Jaxson Dart and Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker.
On the opposite side, the Carolina Panthers fired a member of their communications staff for making a joke about the incident. Additionally, a transgender Team USA cyclist openly celebrated Kirk’s death.
On Friday, authorities in Utah announced they had arrested a suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, in connection with the shooting.
