The Ambassador and the Secretary discussed the strengthening of bilateral trade relations and future investment opportunities under the framework of the UK-Central America Association Agreement (UKCAA).

Both parties celebrated the nearly five years of successful implementation of the UKCAA, which has facilitated a steady growth in trade between Honduras and the United Kingdom. In 2024, bilateral trade reached £174 million, with a notable 33.3% increase in British exports to Honduras. The first quarter of 2025 saw further growth, with total trade rising to £186 million—a 9.4% increase year-over-year.

Ambassador Correa expressed optimism about the growing trade relationship, noting the strong performance of Honduran exports such as seafood, coffee, and agricultural products. She also underscored the potential for increased British exports, particularly in pharmaceuticals, industrial machinery, and refined petroleum.

Both parties acknowledged the importance of maintaining a constructive dialogue between government and private sectors to ensure a favourable investment climate. Secretary Cerrato reiterated the Honduran government’s support for the Law of Tax Justice, positioning it as a tool to enhance competitiveness and fiscal responsibility.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen cooperation across the three pillars of the UKCAA—trade, political dialogue, and cooperation. Upcoming subcommittee sessions and the in-person Association Committee meeting in London in November are expected to further solidify the partnership.

This engagement marks a significant step toward a more dynamic and mutually beneficial economic relationship between Honduras and the United Kingdom.
