Manchester United tasted defeat once again in the Premier League as Ruben Amorim opted to put all of his eggs in a Europa League-sized basket against Brentford.
United, who beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in the first leg, have one foot in the final but Amorim wasn’t willing to take any risks on Sunday as he named a B-team to take on the Bees.
Mason Mount scored first for the visitors, but the lead lasted 13 minutes before the downfall began. Luke Shaw scored an own goal before Kevin Schade scored twice and Yoane Wissa continued his good form.
Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo – on his return – netted to make it 4-3 but it was too little, too late.
