Triple M has revealed a footy great will help replace Marty Sheargold after the controversial radio host was dumped when he made shocking comments about the Matildas that were branded sexist, un-Australian and disgusting.
The 53-year-old’s Rush Hour show will now be hosted by NRL great Nathan Hindmarsh, along with broadcaster Anthony Maroon and sports reporter Adam Peacock, from April 28.
NRLW stars Millie Elliott and Keeley Davis will also join the team, with the Brisbane version of the show hosted by sports commentator Ben Dobbin.
Sheargold made the remarks on live radio show on February 24 as he reacted to the Matildas’ 2-1 loss to the USA at the SheBelieves Cup, which came on the heels of their 4-0 loss to Japan to open the tournament.
‘There’s something wrong with the Matildas,’ he said.
‘They had that wonderful tournament out here (2023 FIFA World Cup) where we all fell in love with them, even though they didn’t make the quarters.

‘You know what they remind me of? Year 10 girls… All the infighting and all the friendship issues, “the coach hates me and I hate bloody training and Michelle’s being a bitch”.
‘Now I’m sorry to undermine the whole sport, but that’s what I think of it so you can stick it up your a**e.’
His co-hosts tried to continue discussing the SheBelieves Cup when Sheargold jumped in, exclaiming: ‘Oh, she believes in what? It better be men’.
On the topic of Sam Kerr and her partner Kristie Mewis, Sheargold asked, ‘do they play the same position?’
The conversation then moved to Australia hosting the women’s Asian Cup next year.
‘Oh god. The Asian Cup,’ Sheargold said.
‘I’d rather hammer a nail through the head of my penis than watch that.
‘Got any men’s sport?’

Sheargold issued an apology after he was widely slammed for his comments, but was dumped by Triple M just three days after he made the comments, which were brought to light by Aussie Olympian Rosie Malone.
Sports stars including Matildas star Mary Fowler’s boyfriend Nathan Cleary and Aussie swimming great Cate Campbell blasted Sheargold’s take on the team.
‘We [women] deserve better. We need more recognition. I feel really, really strongly that these comments are unacceptable,’ Campbell said.
‘And my question here is where are the men? There were two other men in that studio while Marty was making those comments… However, it took a woman, it took Rosie Malone, an Olympian in her own right, to call these comments out.
‘Why is it women who are calling out the poor behaviour of men and not men stepping up? We don’t want to be in this trope. We don’t want to be the people who are saying, ‘oh, you can’t take a joke, stop it. That’s not acceptable’.
‘That turns people like Marty Sheargold into a martyr for men everywhere, because they’re saying women are putting him down.’
Cleary said: ‘It’s pretty sad that people are still saying that sort of stuff. It’s just unnecessary.’
Anthony Albanese added his voice to the wave of criticism.
‘They were just shocking comments that anyone could think it, let alone say it,’ the prime minister said.
‘Completely unacceptable. The Tillies are just legends. They excited and brought together the whole country. The whole country was united in cheering for them.’
