Luis Suarez is keeping his talents in South Beach, as he signed a 1-year extension with Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami on Wednesday.
Suarez staying with the Herons elevates the Barcelona reunion tour of sorts with former teammate Javier Mascherano being officially hired as the team’s head coach on Tuesday.
The Camp Nou extension also includes Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets, who all applied their craft in Spain together for years.
Suarez came to Inter Miami after playing for clubs in South America for two seasons.
That was proceeded by a long stay with European top-division clubs from 2006 through 2022.
Other than Barcelona, Suarez was a star for Liverpool, Ajax, and Atletico Madrid.

Suarez retired from the Uruguayan national team earlier this year as the nation’s all-time leading scorer.
To long-standing soccer fans, Suarez is a controversial figure, who became known for biting opponents on a few occasions.
Suarez also was infamous for a deliberate handball during a 2010 World Cup quarterfinal against Ghana, which saw him pick up a red card by denying the would-be game-winning goal.
Uruguay would end up winning that matchup and advancing to the semifinals, which Suarez was suspended for due to the red card.
In 2024, Inter Miami won the MLS’ Supporters’ Shield, given to the best team in the regular season.
However, the Herons were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by Atlanta United.
