  • Brentford agreed a fee with the Reds for the Irish goalkeeper on Sunday evening

Brentford have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool in a deal worth £18million.

The Republic of Ireland international has replaced Mark Flekken, who the Bees confirmed has left for Bayer Leverkusen earlier today.

The 26-year-old spent a decade on Merseyside, joining from Irish side Ringmahon Rangers, and played second fiddle to Alisson between the sticks for the majority of his time at the club.

Kelleher made 67 appearances for the Reds, keeping 24 clean sheets, during his six years in the senior set-up. However, with just one year left on his deal at Liverpool, he has opted to move on to become a No 1 goalkeeper.

West Ham, Leeds, and Bournemouth all showed interest in the Irishman, but Brentford made their move on Sunday night and agreed on a cut-price deal with the Liverpool hierarchy.

Kelleher has put pen to paper on a five-year deal in west London, and the club has the option to extend the contract by a further year to 2031.
