Lee Carsley has ruled himself out of the vacant England manager’s job, according to a report.
Carsley, who has stepped up as interim boss after Gareth Southgate left his post at the end of Euro 2024, has overseen three matches so far, winning two and losing one.
His reign started with an impressive 2-0 win away to Ireland, before the Three Lions won by the same scoreline at home to Finland days later in a successful start to what had appeared to be Carsley’s audition.
But a shock defeat by Greece raised eyebrows, with Carsley causing even more confusion when he refused to rule himself of the running but also said he would ‘hopefully’ return to his role as U-21 manager.
Now, however, according to The Telegraph, he has made it known that he does not want the permanent senior manager’s job.
