Josh Hart was left with blood pouring down his face after suffering a brutal injury in the early stages of the Knicks-Celtics Game 5 showdown in Boston.

The Knicks superstar was going for the basket when he was caught by a flailing elbow, immediately falling to the floor and clutching his face.

Within seconds, there was blood all over the court and medics rushed to the 30-year-old’s aid to try and stem the flow.

Stunned commentators on TNT even claimed ‘he might need a transfusion, he is gushing blood.’

A review then determined the contact with Luke Kornet’s elbow was accidental and did not need to be upgraded to a flagrant foul.

The game was stopped as Hart received more medical treatment on the sidelines, and the player even had to change his jersey and shorts because they were covered in blood.

Hart then managed to get back on the court to go to the free-throw line, even with his vision partially impaired.

The foul occurred with 3:30 left in the first quarter of the game, with the Knicks trailing 21-16.

Heading into Game 5, the Knicks hold a 3-1 series lead over the Celtics and are just one win away from their first Conference Finals in 25 years.

New York won the first two games at TD Garden, before suffering a brutal loss at Madison Square Garden over the weekend.

The Knicks were back to winning ways on Monday night, though, extending the lead to 3-1 – but the game was marred by a devastating Achilles injury to Jayson Tatum.
