A suspect has been arrested after a former football star at Texas Southern University was found dead in a parking garage in an apartment complex in Houston.
According to KTRK news in Houston, 22-year-old Jasper Robinson has been charged with first-degree murder.
The victim was 24-year-old Tyler Martinez, a former defensive tackle for TSU’s football team.
The incident occurred on Friday, with police responding to the Mac 4660 Apartments where they found Martinez with multiple gunshot wounds.
According to court documents, Robinson – a full time TSU student – returned to the scene of the crime and confessed to the shooting.
Witnesses told police that shots were fired when a fight broke out between the two men, who both lived at the apartment complex.

Eyewitnesses say that Martinez was on top of Robinson at one point, but a woman associated with Robinson retreived a gun from a car and gave it to the suspect.
Martinez eventually got off Robinson and walked away before he was shot three times in the torso, witnesses said.
Robinson is being held on $200,000 bond in the Harris County Jail. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, according to court documents.
Martinez played four seasons of college football for the Tigers from 2019 to 2023 under former head coach Clarence McKinney, according to Sports Illustrated.
Across his career, he made 20 appearances and recorded 57 tackles, four sacks, and five tackles for a loss.
