John Harbaugh has signed a three-year contract extension to stay at the Baltimore Ravens through the 2028 season.

The 62-year-old, who has been in charge of the Ravens since 2008, was entering the final year of his existing deal.

On Friday, however, Baltimore announced that Harbaugh had committed his future to the franchise.

Among current coaches, only Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers (18 years) has been with the same team longer than Harbaugh.

He is the Ravens’ most successful coach of all time – over 17 seasons in Baltimore, his record stands at 185-115. Harbaugh also led Baltimore to a Super Bowl title in 2012.

He is one of only five coaches in NFL history to take a team to the playoffs at least 12 times in his first 17 seasons. The others are Pete Carroll, Bud Grant, Mike Holmgren, and Mike McCarthy.

‘Harbaugh, 62, is just as passionate and driven as ever to lead Baltimore to a third Super Bowl and second in his tenure,’ the Ravens said when announcing the news.

Baltimore has fallen just short of the Super Bowl in the last two seasons – they lost the AFC Championship game to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023.

And then last year, the Ravens were edged out by the Buffalo Bills in a nail-biting divisional playoff game.

Harbaugh has built a formidable offense, led by brilliant quarterback Lamar Jackson and destructive running back Derrick Henry.
