Arsenal are said to be in ‘advanced talks’ with a star player over a new contract with his current deal set to expire in 2027.
Gabriel has just two years left to run on his current contract, but looks set to be offered fresh terms.
According to BBC Sport, an agreement between player and club now appears to be close following previous discussions.
The 27-year-old Brazilian has emerged as one of manager Mikel Arteta’s most important players and was sorely missed by the Gunners towards the end of the season after he suffered a hamstring injury that resulted in surgery.
Despite that setback, he is expected to be fit in time for the start of next season.
That will come as a huge boost to Arteta, with the defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba having become the bedrock of his Arsenal side.

The player in question has become one of Mikel Arteta’s most consistent performers
The duo’s performances have seen the north London side become one of the toughest to break down in in recent seasons, with Arsenal conceding the fewest goals in the Premier League for a second successive campaign in 2024-25.
Gabriel has also played a major role in Arsenal becoming a persistent threat from set-pieces, as he scored five goals in all competitions last season.
An impending new deal for the Brazilian defender comes with Arteta also looking to strengthen across other areas of the pitch in the off-season.
Arsenal have entered talks to sign striker Benjamin Sesko, with the forward ready to leave Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
Talks are at an initial stage, with the Gunners keen to strengthen in attack after missing out on silverware last season.
They previously had offers for Sesko, 21, rejected in May last year and during the most recent January transfer window.
However, he will not come cheaply, with The Telegraph having reported that Mikel Arteta’s side must pay Leipzig’s asking price of £92.5million to secure the services of the Slovenia international.
Another player he is reportedly close to landing is Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who is claimed to be set for a medical before his move to England is finalised, according to BBC Sport.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Zubimendi, who has a reported release clause of £51million.
Mail Sport reported earlier in the season that the Gunners had stolen a march on their rivals for his services.
All payment structures regarding a deal for the 26-year-old have already been agreed between Arsenal and Sociedad.
He previously played with current Arsenal stars Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino at Sociedad and is international team-mates with David Raya.
