Red Devils bid to boost push for Champions League
Hello and welcome to Daily Mail Sport’s live blog as Bournemouth and Man United get the weekend’s Premier League action underway.
Michael Carrick’s Man United side head into tonight’s match looking to boost their pursuit of Champions League football ahead of the international break.
The Red Devils lie third in the table, three points clear of an Aston Villa side they beat last time out.
Liverpool and Chelsea are five and six points adrift respectively in fifth and sixth. With five Champions League places likely for English teams, Man United should feel increasingly confident about a return to Europe’s elite competition next season.
A victory tonight on the south coast would further that belief.
However, Bournemouth may yet have European ambitions of their own. The Cherries lie 10th but could make a late charge to secure for continental qualification.
It promises to be a lively one, particularly if their last meeting is anything to go by…
