Borough of Torbay (Various Streets, Paignton) (Control of Waiting, Loading and Unloading) Amendment Order No3 2024 (Torbay Road)

Decision:

To implement the
parking restrictions contained within the above Order.

Reasons for the decision:

The proposals in this
Order are to assist the taxi trade with increased on street rank
space in advance of the closure of the taxi rank at Paignton
Railway Station as part of the Station Square regeneration works.
 An additional loading bay and disabled
parking will also assist with access to local businesses and
amenities.

 

The proposals were
advertised in a Public Notice in the Herald Express on 4th December
2024, a consultation period of 21 days was provided for members of
the public to submit any objections to the proposals, notices were
also placed out on site.  No objections
were received in response to the proposed changes to the parking
restrictions.

Alternative options considered:

The alternative was
not to proceed with the changes to the parking restrictions.

Implementation:

The required markings
and signage will be implemented ahead of work commencing on the
regeneration of Station Square.

Information:

Proposals to amend
parking restrictions along the length of Torbay Road, Paignton, by
introducing two new taxi ranks at either end of the road, along
with dedicated parking provision for disabled Blue Badge holders.
The proposals are detailed within the “Borough of Torbay
(Various Streets, Paignton) (Control of Waiting, Loading and
Unloading) Amendment Order No3 2024”.
