A Blackpool fan has passed away following a medical emergency that saw the side’s clash with Peterborough halted for half an hour.

The game was paused in the second-half as medical personnel rushed to the aid of the supporter in the stands.

Sadly, his passing was confirmed on Sunday in a club statement.

It read: ‘Blackpool Football Club is deeply saddened to report the news of the passing of supporter Graham Sharman.

‘Graham suffered a medical emergency in the second-half of Saturday’s match at Bloomfield Road. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Graham sadly passed away.

‘The Club have been in contact with his family and will remain in close communication to offer any support that is needed.

‘The thoughts and condolences of everyone go out to Graham’s family and all of those connected at this time. Rest in peace, Graham.’

Peterborough, meanwhile, said: ‘The football club are saddened to hear this news and our thoughts are with Graham’s friends and family at this incredibly sad time.’

Blackpool won the League One game 3-1, courtesy of a brace from Dale Taylor and a strike from Tom Bloxham.

They held on for victory despite centre back Fraser Horsfall being sent off late on.

Ian Evatt’s side are 18th in the league table with three games left to play. Peterborough are 16th, with five matches left.
