Footballers will often protest when booked by referees – but how often do you see a player set their yellow card on FIRE?

YouTube star Max Fosh decided to do exactly that when Mark Clattenburg brandished a yellow against him in this year’s Sidemen charity match.

Fosh shocked a sold-out Wembley – and around 1.6million live viewers – with his magic trick in the second half of the match while playing for the YouTube Allstars.

The YouTuber, who once jokingly ran to be the mayor of London, had fouled internet star Marlon Garcia to earn his punishment.

But nobody was expecting what came next, as he plucked the card from Clattenburg’s hand, paraded it around, and then made it go up in flames.

‘I had six days. Had to come up with something. It worked about 50 per cent of the time when I practised it at home,’ he later revealed.

Max Fosh wasn’t going to lie down and accept his yellow card in the Sidemen charity match

Fosh is known for his stunts when it comes to bookings.

Two years ago, he pulled an UNO reverse card on former Premier League official Clattenburg, who is also a co-host of the Daily Mail’s Whistleblowers podcast.

And last year, he whipped out a shredder and, well, simply shredded his yellow card. That’s one way of wiping the slate clean.

After doing something surely outside the laws of regulation football, Fosh went on to redeem himself in the penalty shoot-out.

The game had finished 10-10, but the Sidemen lost their shooting boots on penalties, and Fosh converted his for the Allstars as they won 4-1.

It means that the Allstars have won the last two editions of the match on spot-kicks; streamer IShowSpeed converted his to win it for them in 2025.

Fosh is one of the more widely known internet celebrities who played this year, with nearly five million YouTube subscribers and 590,000 Instagram followers.

This year’s Sidemen charity match raised a total of £6,218,875 by the end of the stream for Bright Side and M7 Education.

There was an extended half-time show featuring a performance from rapper Tinie Tempah.

The event sold out within two-and-a-half hours of tickets going on sale and offers fans the chance to see some of their favourite YouTubers in action.

The likes of KSI, Angry Ginge, Miniminter, and Fosh started for the YouTube Allstars.

Meanwhile, the Sidemen outfit boasted names such as ChrisMD, Niko Omilana, AJ Shabeel, Vikkstar, and Wroetoshaw.

While some readers may be understandably unfamiliar with these names, they are increasingly popular figures online with millions of followers each.

Angry Ginge is one of those who has best penetrated the national consciousness.

The live streamer, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, made his name online with football and video-game related content.

But he captured hearts across the nation on the 2025 edition of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and won the show.

The YouTube clan are also making inroads into the mainstream football world.

KSI – real name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji – bought a stake in sixth-tier football club Dagenham & Redbridge in March.

His aim is to take the National League South side to the Premier League and he set about quickly making his stamp on the club.

He sacked manager Lee Bradbury within two weeks and replaced him with former England striker Andy Carroll.

He also attends matches and streams himself reacting from the stands.
