Donald Trump covered a number of topics in his inaugural address, but neglected to touch upon the concerns of one troubled Alabama football fan who called into CSPAN on Monday.
The public-affairs cable network was airing scenes from the private ceremony inside the Capital Rotunda in Washington while doing their normal routine of taking calls from Republican and Democrat viewers.
‘Graham in Jersey City, New Jersey – Democrats line,’ the announcer said, yielding the airwaves to a new caller.
‘Hi, I want to wish everyone a happy MLK Day,’ the caller began. ‘Hope everyone is staying warm. A bit disappointed in how the election turned out. I think it would have been great to see a female President inaugurated today.’
But Graham was less concerned with Kamala Harris’ defeat than the Crimson Tide’s exclusion from the ongoing college football playoff.
‘While I’m disappointed in the American people for their desire to see another four more years of Trump, I’m a little bit more disappointed in the selection committee for not picking Alabama for the college football playoff,’ Graham said.

‘Instead of picking inferior teams like SMU and Indiana, truly dark times for America,’ Graham said as he was interrupted by the host.
‘Ok, Graham there,’ the host said, turning viewers’ attention back to the aftermath of the inauguration.
Alabama did not qualify for the CFP this season after dropping 3 of 12 regular season games.
And although there was significant criticism of the selection committee among Tide fans, Kalen DeBoer’s team failed to prove them wrong in the ReliaQuest Bowl, falling 19-13 to a five-loss Michigan team.
Critics on social media were all too happy to turn their attempt to Graham and the Crimson Tide following the call.
‘Perhaps Alabama should’ve won their games,’ one fan wrote on X.
‘Alabama lost to a 6-6 Oklahoma team before the season ended by 21 points,’ another added. ‘Try again next year! Miami had a better chance to get in.’
One fan joked: ‘Hypothetically Alabama would have made the playoff if Kamala won.’
Others were happy to see the topic of conversation veer away from politics.
‘At least he is talking about the important stuff,’ one X user wrote.
‘Talking about the real issues today,’ another agreed.
