Naturally, the exchange landed like a warm blanket over Western New York, where cost-conscious Bills fans toasted a ‘down-to-earth guy’ who ‘will likely leave his NFL career with plenty of the money he earns.’
But a year in the NFL can change a player, as fans discovered this week when the 22-year-old Coleman was interviewed about the Bills’ dramatic comeback win over the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night.
Wearing with a bejeweled, softball-sized Jesus Christ pendant on a chain around his neck, Coleman stunned ESPN’s audience and football fans on social media with his audacious bauble.
‘That’s not from JCPenney,’ remarked one fan.

The sparkling religious icon shows a bearded Christ earing a crown of thorns, every bit of which is covered in glittering jewels.
And while one fan joked Coleman ‘probably got that at Macy’s for 79.99,’ many others took issue with the piece.
‘As a Christian idk how I feel about the chain but shout out to Keon he balled,’ a fan wrote after Coleman caught a deflected pass in the end zone for a touchdown on Sunday night.
Others posted grabs about Jesus’ teachings on riches, while one person said Coleman ‘looks ridiculous.’
And in a sign of just how far Coleman has come, one critic claimed the former Florida State receiver will ‘be broke 2 years after his playing days are over.’

Coleman is currently on his four-year, $10 million rookie deal, which will expire after the 2027 season.
He played exceptionally well in Monday’s dramatic win, catching eight passes for 112 yards and the aforementioned touchdown.
