Rejuvenated Real return to Lisbon
Is it just me, or has anybody else got a sense of de ja vu?
I mean, we’ve been here before. Less than a month ago, we were treated to one of the most dramatic final group games in Champions League history, and it involved both Benfica and Real Madrid.
And now, the two face off again, this time in the play-offs.
Los Blancos return to the Stadium of Light, where they fell on the wrong side of a miracle last-minute goal 19 days ago, revitalised, and looking for revenge.
This competition always provides blockbuster battles, as we saw in Lisbon when these two last scrapped, and I have a feeling we are in for another cracker of a night.
This is, of course, a two-legged affair, so nothing will be decided this evening. However, with the second leg in Madrid to come, either the Eagles or Real can take a huge leap toward the round of 16.
